Old Indy car caught

I'm not sure when this car was built, but it's an older (early 50's?) Indy car.  The car was being worked on when I saw it poking it's rear end out of a garage, so I stopped to take a few shots.  Beautiful restoration, by the way.  And check out that oil tank next to the driver's seat and the driveshaft that runs right next to it.  This tells me that racing car drivers back then had balls of steel.
